On Saturday, Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy assured that the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will not be privatized. He highlighted the government's commitment to modernizing public transport, which includes the introduction of 700 electric buses in the coming months. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the APSRTC's services and infrastructure through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). The Minister noted that the APSRTC had been successfully revived after a decline over the past five years, and the government is now focused on a new phase of growth. Additionally, the government aims to deploy a total of 3,000 electric buses across the state, with operational infrastructure for electric vehicle services being set up in six depots by July. To improve connectivity, APSRTC will also operate 40 special buses between Vijayawada and the upcoming Bhogapuram airport. This modernization effort is expected to strengthen public transport services while supporting environmental goals.
