On Saturday, clashes erupted between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, during repolling for the assembly elections. The BJP accused TMC of harassing its voters and preventing them from casting their ballots. In response, the Election Commission ordered repolling in 11 polling stations in the Magrahat Paschim assembly constituency and four in Diamond Harbour due to alleged electoral malpractice. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari expressed support for the repoll decision, stating it was necessary to address the malpractices favoring TMC. Meanwhile, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh criticized the BJP's demands for repolling, suggesting it was a tactic born from their awareness of an impending electoral defeat. The decision regarding repolling in the Falta constituency remains pending as officials await further reports.
