Rajasthan Royals (RR) have signed Emanjot Chahal, a 21-year-old left-arm spinner from Patiala, as a replacement for wicketkeeper-batter Ravi Singh, who is out for the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during RR's match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 17. Chahal, who has represented Punjab in domestic cricket, has recorded a top score of 83 in first-class matches and has taken 11 wickets in three outings. He will join the Royals for a fee of ₹30 lakh (approximately $36,000 USD). As RR prepares to face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, their playoff hopes are on the line. Currently in fourth place with 14 points, a win is crucial for RR to secure a spot in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will also need favorable outcomes from other matches, including losses by Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, to ensure their progression into the playoffs. Earlier this season, RR achieved a victory over MI by 27 runs in a rain-affected match in Guwahati.
