On May 22, 2025, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) will distribute ₱5,000 cash assistance to qualified taxi, public utility bus, UV Express, and school transport drivers in Cebu City. This initiative aims to support drivers facing rising fuel prices. Distribution will take place at the LTFRB-7 office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only drivers listed among the 422 beneficiaries can claim the aid, and they must present their original and valid driver's licenses or a temporary driver's license receipt. Additionally, separate payouts for public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers are planned for May 25, with each PUJ driver receiving ₱1,500. The LTFRB-7 has also coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to implement a Cash Relief Assistance program for PUJ drivers. Furthermore, a P10-per-liter diesel discount program is available for diesel-powered public transport vehicles, providing relief for up to 150 liters of fuel weekly. These measures are part of the government's efforts to alleviate the financial burden on public transport drivers and operators nationwide.
