The Ramagundam-Manuguru railway line is set to become a crucial economic driver for Telangana, with an estimated cost of ₹5,000 crore. This 200 km line will significantly enhance both freight and passenger connectivity, generating an initial revenue of approximately ₹460 crore annually, which could rise to ₹720 crore within five years. The project aims to transport about 12 million tonnes of freight yearly, including coal, food grains, and cement. By establishing a direct link between the coal mining areas of Ramagundam and Bhadrachalam, the railway will streamline coal transportation, reducing the current route's length by about 150 km. This improvement is expected to boost operational efficiency and lower logistics costs. Furthermore, there are plans to extend the railway to Malkangiri in Odisha, which will enhance access to mining and industrial regions and improve connectivity for remote tribal areas. The detailed project report has been submitted to the central government, with a target completion within five years, including one year for land acquisition.
