In a tragic incident in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, eight people lost their lives when their taxi plunged approximately 500 metres into a gorge. The accident occurred late Friday night, but it was not discovered until Saturday evening when the vehicle failed to return. The taxi was transporting seven tourists and a driver to the snow-covered Sach Pass, known for its challenging terrain. Following an alarm raised by the vehicle's owner, local authorities initiated a search operation. However, bad weather and difficult terrain delayed the recovery of the bodies until Sunday. The victims included two families, one from Karnataka and the other from Chhattisgarh, who had gathered in Dalhousie for a holiday. The deceased were identified as Arvind Chandrakar, his wife Prachi, their two sons, and P G Karthikeyan, his wife, and son, along with their taxi driver, Vishwas. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
