OpenAI is reportedly planning a significant overhaul of its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, transforming it into a 'superapp' as it prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO). According to a report from the Financial Times, the redesign will incorporate coding tools, AI agents, image generation, and partner services such as Canva and Booking.com. Denise Dresser, OpenAI's Chief Revenue Officer, stated that this superapp will enable employees to work with AI agents throughout their day, enhancing productivity and collaboration. With ChatGPT currently serving over 900 million weekly active users and surpassing 50 million consumer subscribers, OpenAI aims to boost its revenue ahead of the IPO. Reports suggest that OpenAI is working with investment banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to prepare a draft prospectus for the IPO, which could occur as early as September. This initiative follows OpenAI's recent valuation of around $852 billion, positioning it among the world's most valuable private technology companies, and reflects its strategy to gain a competitive edge over rivals like Anthropic.
