On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met with S N Subrahmanyam, the chairman and managing director of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), at Kolkata airport. This meeting follows Adhikari's recent discussions with Karan Adani, managing director of Adani Ports, and is part of the state government's broader initiative to attract investments and boost infrastructure development. Adhikari described the meeting as productive, emphasizing the importance of creating a robust ecosystem for industrial growth and generating employment opportunities for the youth. L&T, already involved in the state's IT sector through LTIMindtree, has also been awarded a contract for the construction of the Gangasagar Setu, a nearly 5-km bridge over the Muriganga river, aimed at improving connectivity to Sagar Island. This bridge, with a budget of ₹1,670 crore, is expected to significantly enhance infrastructure in the region, particularly during the annual Gangasagar Mela.
