The Allahabad High Court has upheld the land acquisition for the expansion of the Noida International Airport located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The court dismissed petitions filed by affected landowners, affirming that the acquisition process was conducted in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. A division bench, consisting of Justice M C Tripathi and Justice Kunal Ravi Singh, noted that there were no material irregularities in the process. The court's decision, delivered on April 28, emphasized that while the petitioners did not oppose the acquisition of agricultural land itself, their concerns were primarily focused on issues of displacement and rehabilitation. The bench directed authorities to ensure that rehabilitation measures are fully implemented before taking possession of the residential lands.
