The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced its manifesto for the municipal elections scheduled for May 10 in Panchkula, Ambala, and Sonipat, Haryana. Key promises include the installation of 'pink toilets' with sanitary napkin vending machines and baby feeding rooms, alongside a 25% house tax exemption for women-owned properties. The BJP plans to construct 2,100 flats in Panchkula at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore (approximately $36 million USD) to rehabilitate residents of Rajiv Colony and Indira Colony. Additionally, the party aims to establish an Integrated Command and Control Centre in Panchkula for nearly ₹200 crore (about $24 million USD). Other initiatives include modern waste disposal systems, well-maintained public parks, and mandatory rainwater harvesting for buildings. The party's commitment to fulfilling promises was emphasized by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who stated that the manifesto is a reflection of public sentiment and a responsibility towards the people. In contrast, the Congress party has also released its manifesto, focusing on transforming cities into 'green cities' with improved infrastructure and enhanced security.
