The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has introduced new regulations requiring that all new Malayalam films submit a report from the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to obtain a publicity clearance certificate. This measure is part of KFCC's commitment to comply with the Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act (POSH Act), 2013. Anil Thomas, president of KFCC, emphasized that the publicity clearance is essential for films to proceed to the censoring stage. The ICCs, which will be established on each film set, must be led by a senior woman member and include a lawyer to ensure legal guidance. These committees are required to meet at least twice during the filming process and submit a report to the KFCC. The KFCC is also promoting awareness programs to educate industry members about the ICC's functions and the POSH Act, aiming for better transparency and accountability in the film industry.
