Dylan Taylor, chairman and CEO of Voyager, revealed ambitious plans for establishing a permanent human presence on the Moon by 2030, with the first elements of a lunar base operational as early as 2028. During a panel at CNBC's CONVERGE LIVE in Singapore, Taylor emphasized the transition from short-term Apollo-style missions to a sustained lunar presence. He predicted that by 2032-2033, people could live and work on the Moon, making it visible from Earth. Voyager's recent investment in Max Space aims to develop expandable habitats that can significantly increase in volume once deployed on the lunar surface. This initiative aligns with a recent executive order directing NASA to establish a lunar base, as part of the NASA Authorization Act of 2026, to ensure U.S. leadership in space exploration. Taylor noted that while building a base on the Moon is feasible, it will require advanced life support systems to address extreme temperatures and environmental challenges.
