Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday, marking the establishment of the third BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Veterinary Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati, and was officiated by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Notable attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers. Sarma, dressed in traditional Assamese attire, took his oath in the Assamese language, emphasizing his commitment to serve the people of Assam. He stated that with the blessings of local deities and the people, he aims to lead the state towards significant development. The NDA coalition achieved a historic victory, winning 102 seats in the 126-member assembly, with the BJP alone securing 82 seats. Four MLAs, including Rameshwar Teli and Ajanta Neog, were also sworn in as ministers, continuing their roles from Sarma's previous cabinet.
