In the early hours of Saturday, Kiryat Shmona, a city in northern Israel, suffered a direct hit from a Hezbollah missile amid a barrage targeting the region from Lebanon. The missile struck a shopping center, causing significant damage to property but fortunately resulting in no injuries or fatalities. Kiryat Shmona Mayor Avichai Stern reported that other missiles were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome defense system. Local leaders, including Deputy Mayor Ze'evik Zweigi, criticized the Israeli government's handling of the security situation, with Zweigi threatening to leave the Likud party if no improvements are made within a month. He emphasized the ongoing threat faced by residents, stating that the situation feels far from a ceasefire.
