In the fiscal year 2025-26, government procurement from women entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh reached ₹4,755 crore, a significant increase of ₹1,455 crore or nearly 44% from ₹3,310 crore in FY25. The growth in procurement reflects a strong commitment to enhancing women's participation in business, facilitated through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 9, 2016. Uttar Pradesh has consistently topped the GeM procurement chart in India, with total purchases of ₹22,337 crore in FY26, far surpassing other states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra. Key departments contributing to this procurement include urban development, medical, home, energy, and rural development. Additionally, procurement from startups in the state has also surged, indicating a broader trend of increasing engagement with local enterprises. The Government of India has acknowledged Uttar Pradesh's GeM procurement policy, declaring the state a role model for transparent procurement practices.
