Gavin Groninger has been appointed as the new boys' basketball coach at Plainfield High School in Indiana, marking his return to the community where he was raised. A state champion player in 1999, Groninger has spent the last two years coaching at Mooresville, where he led the team to its first sectional title in 27 years. He expressed his commitment to continue the success and culture established at Plainfield, stating, "This community raised me, and I’m ready to pour everything I’ve got into these kids." Groninger's coaching experience includes 11 seasons as an assistant under Andy Weaver, who recently stepped down after leading the Quakers to 10 consecutive winning seasons, finishing this past season with a record of 22-3. Groninger's achievements as a player and coach, including his recognition as an Indiana All-Star and selection to the 2024 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary team, underscore his dedication to the sport and the community.
