Swapan Sadhan Bose, the former president of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club, passed away at the age of 78 in Kolkata following a massive heart attack. Known affectionately as Tutu Bose, he was a prominent figure in the club's administration since 1989, serving as secretary from 1991 to 1995 before becoming president until 2017. Under his leadership, the club made significant signings, including the legendary Indian striker IM Vijayan and its first foreign player, Chima Okorie. Bose's influence extended beyond football; he was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2005 to 2011, nominated by the All India Trinamool Congress. His recent re-election as club president in May 2022 highlighted his enduring legacy within Mohun Bagan, which expressed profound grief at his passing, stating that his contributions would remain etched in their hearts.
