On May 17, police in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing unit operating from a dilapidated building in the Baraut area. Following a tip-off, a raid was conducted near the Eastern Yamuna Canal barrage, resulting in the arrest of three suspects: Salim, Farman, and Shoaib. The police recovered a substantial amount of illegal firearms, including 13 country-made .315 bore pistols, five 12 bore country-made pistols, and two illegal 12 bore guns. Additionally, they seized two live .315 bore cartridges, five empty cartridges, and six semi-finished barrels, along with various tools used for weapon manufacturing. Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that the operation had been running for an extended period. While the three arrested individuals are facing legal proceedings, the mastermind behind the arms factory managed to escape during the police operation. A case has been registered at the Baraut police station, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
