On Wednesday, A Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana, met with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi to request swift approval for the second phase of the Hyderabad metro rail project. This phase includes seven corridors with a total length of 122.9 kilometers and an estimated cost of ₹38,595 crore (around $4.6 billion USD). The Telangana government has already prepared a comprehensive detailed project report (DPR) for this expansion. Reddy also highlighted the importance of including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Bharat Future City corridor in the proposed phase-III of the project, which aims to address long-term transportation needs as Hyderabad continues to grow. He noted that the state government has taken control of the phase-I project from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited to facilitate smoother execution of future phases. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both the Telangana government and the central government, indicating a collaborative approach to urban development in Hyderabad.
