According to Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, a total of 15,818 manuscripts have been identified thus far. The district is currently undergoing extensive preservation and digitization efforts, with 515 surveyors actively working in both rural and urban areas to locate manuscripts of historical, cultural, and religious importance. Among the manuscripts, 140 from the Shri Krishna Museum and 15,678 from the Manuscript Resource and Conservation Centre at Kurukshetra University have already been uploaded to the mission's portal. The focus is on manuscripts that are over 75 years old, and surveyors are also promoting awareness among residents to encourage them to submit manuscripts found in their communities. This initiative is particularly significant in Kurukshetra due to its rich historical and cultural connections to the Mahabharata era, facilitating easier access to India’s knowledge heritage for researchers and the public alike.
