The Indian stock markets, including the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited, will be closed on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in observance of Bakri Id. This closure is part of a total of 16 holidays designated for the year, with eight already observed. After Bakri Id, the next market holiday will occur on June 26 for Muharram. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India will not operate during the morning session on May 28 but will resume trading in the evening. The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited will remain closed for both sessions on that day. In the latter half of 2026, additional holidays include September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi, October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti, October 20 for Dussehra, November 10 for Diwali Balipratipada, November 24 for Guru Nanak Jayanti, and December 25 for Christmas. Notably, four holidays will fall on weekends, which will not result in extra closures, including Mahashivratri and Eid-Ul-Fitr, which have already passed, as well as Independence Day and Diwali Laxmi Pujan.
