On Sunday, Jeet Adani (Director of Adani Airport Holdings Limited) and his wife Diva Shah cast their votes at a polling station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as local body elections took place across the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with his family, also exercised their right to vote in Gandhinagar, where he later visited a temple to offer prayers. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of the elections, referring to it as a 'festival of democracy.' He encouraged citizens to fulfill their democratic duties. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi voted in Surat and expressed optimism about public participation in the elections, which are seen as a means to further the development agenda championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The elections cover 15 municipal corporations, including major cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot, along with over 84 municipalities and various district and taluka panchayats. Vote counting is scheduled for April 28.
