This directive, issued by Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan on April 20, aims to enhance critical care infrastructure across the country. The court emphasized the need for immediate action and expert consultations to identify five key priorities concerning ICU manpower and equipment. A consensus-based document titled 'Guidelines for Organization and Delivery of Intensive Care Services' has already been prepared and will serve as the foundation for these standards. The Supreme Court expects the first expert meeting to convene within a week, with a comprehensive report due by May 18, 2026.
