Meanwhile, the Blue Jays designated left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer for assignment after a poor start to the season, where he recorded a 1-5 record and a 6.69 ERA. To fill the roster, the team recalled Yohendrick Piñango from Triple-A Buffalo and selected Yariel Rodríguez, who has performed well in the minors, to join the major league team ahead of their series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
