On Friday morning, a landslide struck Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, claiming the life of a local resident and injuring a man of Nepali origin. The incident occurred around 8 AM near the Hanuman Temple, where a police barrier is also located. Nandan Singh Rajwar, the District Disaster Management Officer, confirmed that both individuals were caught in the landslide caused by loose soil from the nearby hills. Emergency services quickly responded, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police conducting rescue operations at the site. The local resident was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, while the injured man was initially treated at MRP Sonprayag and later referred to the District Hospital Rudraprayag for further care. Authorities have advised travelers and residents to exercise caution while navigating hilly areas, emphasizing the need for vigilance due to the potential for further landslides.
