The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged 20 cases of answer sheet swapping linked to the On-screen Marking (OSM) process, which involved the assessment of nearly 98 lakh answer scripts. The issue was initially raised by a Class 12 student named Vedant, who discovered that the answer sheet he received did not belong to him. Following his report, other students, including Sanjana, reported similar discrepancies. In response, CBSE prioritized these cases and provided the correct answer sheets to the affected students. The board indicated that about 68,000 answer sheets were flagged for quality issues during scanning, and over 13,000 remained illegible even after rescanning. To address these challenges, experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur are evaluating the OSM system to ensure a seamless experience. Looking ahead, CBSE plans to enhance transparency by making answer sheets available in DigiLocker starting in 2027, which will allow students to access their evaluation documents digitally. This initiative aims to leverage technology for improved transparency in the evaluation process.
