A Delhi court has summoned Robert Vadra, the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and eight others in connection with a money laundering case involving alleged irregularities in a land deal in Shikohpur, Gurugram, Haryana. The summons were issued by special judge Sushant Changotra after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted a charge sheet in July 2022. The allegations center around a 3.53-acre plot purchased by Vadra's firm, Sky Light Hospitality, from Onkareshwar Properties on February 12, 2008. The ED claims that false declarations were made during the acquisition and that a commercial license was obtained through Vadra's influence. The ED's prosecutor, Zoheb Hossain, noted that the ₹7.5 crore payment for the land was made via a cheque that was never cashed. Subsequently, the land was allegedly sold to DLF for a higher price. In July last year, the ED had also attached 43 immovable properties valued at approximately ₹37.64 crores under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of the investigation.
