Ahead of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) elections in Himachal Pradesh, a total of 10,854 candidates have been elected unopposed across various tiers of local governance. The State Election Commission Secretary, Surjeet Singh Rathore, announced that the notification for the elections was issued on April 29, 2026, with nominations filed on May 7, 8, and 11. The elections will occur in three phases on May 26, 28, and 30. Notably, Shimla district saw the most uncontested victories, including 21 Panchayat Samiti members, 51 Pradhans, and 1,687 Ward Members. Sirmaur and Mandi districts also reported significant unopposed elections, with 22 and 17 Gram Panchayats elected without contest, respectively. Conversely, Hamirpur district had no uncontested Pradhan elections, although some positions were filled unopposed. The State Election Commission is actively disseminating this information to ensure public awareness as the polling date approaches.
