The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka will commence on June 20, according to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V. Anbu Kumar. He emphasized that the process aims to enhance the transparency and accuracy of the electoral rolls, ensuring that no eligible voter is excluded. Kumar clarified that notices issued during the SIR should not be interpreted as automatic deletions from the voter list. Instead, they will only be issued when discrepancies arise in the information provided by voters. Each of the 5,55,74,064 electors in the state will receive QR coded enumeration forms, which will allow for easy verification of voter details. The revision process will involve over 64,000 personnel, including 31 Deputy Commissioners and 59,050 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who will visit households to distribute these forms. To further assist voters, facilitation centres will be established at the ward level, ensuring that all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process. Kumar reiterated that the Election Commission is committed to safeguarding against wrongful voter deletions throughout this exercise.
