In a recent video message, Manoj Tiwary, the former sports minister of West Bengal, accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of blocking his initiatives during his tenure with the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Tiwary claimed that he was restricted from engaging fully in his role and was often sidelined, stating he could only 'eat biscuits and tea' instead of actively contributing to the sports sector. He recounted a specific incident involving football star Lionel Messi, who left an event shortly after arriving due to chaos, which Tiwary attributed to the mismanagement of TMC leader Arup Biswas. Following the TMC's electoral defeat, Tiwary expressed relief at the removal of what he called a 'narrow-minded government' that failed to serve the public. He criticized Banerjee for dismissing his concerns during cabinet meetings, indicating a lack of support for his initiatives. In response, Kanchan Gupta, a senior advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, derided Tiwary's comments, suggesting that TMC members are merely abandoning a failing party.
