S Keerthana, a 29-year-old political strategist, has made history as the youngest Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party in Tamil Nadu, India. She won the Sivakasi Assembly seat in Virudhunagar district with 68,709 votes, defeating Congress candidate Ashokan G by a margin of 11,670 votes. Keerthana, born in 1996, pursued her education in Mathematics and Statistics before transitioning to politics. Her experience as a political consultant for various parties, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has equipped her with insights into governance and administration. Notably, she speaks five languages, including Tamil, English, Hindi, and Telugu, which she believes has helped her connect with a broader audience. Keerthana's election is particularly significant as she is the first female MLA from Sivakasi in 70 years, reflecting a shift in the political landscape of the region.
