Lucknow University has implemented significant changes to its evaluation system for the LLB 3-year and 5-year programs, aligning with the Bar Council of India (BCI) guidelines and the National Education Policy (NEP). The new assessment structure now allocates 75% of the weightage to written theory examinations and 25% to internal assessments, which include assignments, projects, and attendance. This marks a shift from the previous 90:10 ratio. Additionally, the criteria for passing have been revised; students will only need to achieve 40% combined marks from both assessments to pass a subject, while an overall score of 45% across all subjects is required to advance to the next semester. Notably, no student will be failed in the first semester of either LLB program. According to university spokesperson Mukul Srivastava, these reforms aim to alleviate academic stress and will be applied to all law courses offered by affiliated colleges.
