The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the introduction of Composite Skill Labs in schools, set to launch on August 22, 2027. These labs aim to enhance hands-on, experiential learning for students from Classes 6 to 12, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. Schools are required to establish either one composite lab of 600 square feet or two separate labs of 400 square feet each. The curriculum will cover skill subjects across three broad areas: life forms, machines and materials, and human services, allowing schools to tailor subjects based on local resources and industry connections. Furthermore, CBSE encourages the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, aligning with the Government of India's vision to enhance AI literacy. Schools are advised to utilize existing Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) and mechatronics labs to foster technology-driven learning, enabling students to explore innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial opportunities.
