In a recent review meeting, Nishant Kumar, the Health Minister of Bihar, urged government health institutions to enhance the quality and timeliness of healthcare services. He emphasized the importance of strengthening help desks, streamlining outpatient department (OPD) registration, and implementing token-based queue management to improve patient experience. The minister also highlighted the necessity for full attendance of medical staff, strict cleanliness standards, availability of essential medications, and operational medical equipment. Regular inspections were mandated to ensure compliance with these standards. Additionally, Kumar announced the implementation of ABHA-based OPD registration and called for stricter actions against middlemen. From July 15, improved referral systems in district hospitals will be introduced. Furthermore, to combat Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), Kumar launched a campaign involving 12 awareness vehicles across the affected districts, focusing on symptoms, prevention, and timely treatment. The government has also bolstered pediatric ICU facilities in these areas, with the campaign being GPS-tracked to ensure effective public awareness and preventive care for children.
