The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has announced its support for a fundraising initiative led by the Avalkoppam Legal Support Trust to aid the survivor of the Kerala actor rape case. In a statement on May 13, 2026, the WCC emphasized its commitment to supporting the survivor in her ongoing quest for justice. Actor Dileep, the eighth accused in the case, was acquitted of all charges by the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court on December 8, 2025. In contrast, six other defendants, including the primary accused 'Pulsar' Suni, were found guilty of gang rape and wrongful confinement. The Avalkoppam Legal Support Trust, formed in response to what it deemed an unjust verdict, is calling on civil society to assist the survivor. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Vrinda Grover will represent the survivor in the Kerala High Court, marking this campaign as the Trust's first initiative to support survivors of abuse.
