JSW Steel Ltd has announced a joint venture with South Korea's Posco Group to establish a 6 million tonnes per annum integrated steel plant in Odisha, India. This venture will be executed through Saffron Resources Pvt. Ltd., which will be converted into a 50:50 joint venture between the two companies. Posco is set to invest approximately ₹508.8 crore in the venture, which is expected to be finalized by 31 December 2026. The project will utilize around 887 acres of land in Odisha and represents a significant expansion of JSW Steel's manufacturing capabilities, aiming for a total capacity of 50 million tonnes in India by FY31. This collaboration follows an initial agreement signed in October 2024 for joint ventures in steelmaking and renewable energy. The partnership also marks a renewed commitment from Posco in India, following previous challenges in securing land and iron ore linkages for earlier projects in the region.
