In Madhya Pradesh, the anti-corruption group System Parivartan Abhiyan (SPA) has urged Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to initiate a high-level investigation into land transactions linked to the proposed ₹3,200-crore Bhopal Western Bypass project. The SPA alleges that senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers acquired land plots along the bypass route before the project's approval, with their value reportedly increasing from ₹5.5 crore to ₹55-60 crore over a short period. The SPA's president, Azad Singh Dabas, claims that the bypass project has been manipulated to benefit these officials, as the project's alignment was altered multiple times to favor their land purchases. Dabas highlighted that approximately 50 bureaucrats purchased around 2.023 hectares of agricultural land in Guradi Ghat village through a single registry document in April 2022, just before the project was approved on August 31, 2023. The group has called for the cancellation of the bypass project to prevent unnecessary public expenditure, questioning its necessity given that the Eastern Bypass already serves Bhopal's traffic needs.
