Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated a multipurpose sports stadium in Sanjauli, Shimla, on Monday, with a construction cost of ₹3.18 crore. The stadium includes an open sports ground, halls, a kitchen, and other amenities designed to promote sports in the region. During the event, Sukhu also launched Himachal Pradesh's first Chitta Awareness Volleyball Tournament, part of the International Summer Festival, with 13 teams participating and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh for the winning team. He took the salute from the march-past by teams and administered an anti-drug pledge to the players. Furthermore, Sukhu announced a budget of ₹1 crore for the further development of the Sanjauli ground, along with plans for a primary health centre and upgrading the Sanjauli Holi Fair to district-level status. The Chief Minister emphasized efforts to host Khelo India competitions in Himachal and mentioned enhancements to prize money for international medal winners, along with a new policy to reward national-level sportspersons. MLA Harish Janartha supported these initiatives, highlighting their potential to encourage youth participation in sports and combat drug abuse.
