Asaduddin Owaisi (chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen party) alleged that Muslims are being systematically targeted as part of a 'planned agenda' during a press conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. He expressed concerns that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is being improperly linked to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR), with the Supreme Court mandating mapping of names. Owaisi claimed that during a verification process, 97% of the 27 lakh names checked belonged to Muslims, suggesting that this was part of a broader scheme rooted in hatred. He emphasized that the issue transcends religious lines, affecting all societal groups. Owaisi also criticized the media for prematurely publicizing the name of Nida Khan, a figure involved in a legal case, before any formal charges were filed, alleging a media trial orchestrated by the ruling party. He raised questions about the legality of possessing a burqa and books related to the Prophet Muhammad, asserting that accusations against Muslims are often based on prejudice. Additionally, Owaisi referenced historical events, including the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2020 Delhi riots, to highlight the plight of victims' families.
