Punjab Police have made a significant breakthrough in national security by arresting Baljit Singh (alias Bittu) in Pathankot for allegedly spying for Pakistan. Singh reportedly installed an internet-enabled CCTV camera at a shop along the Pathankot-Jammu national highway (NH-44) to transmit military movements to handlers across the border. He was arrested after police received intelligence about suspicious activities in the area. During the operation, authorities recovered a CCTV camera and WiFi router from Singh's possession. He allegedly received ₹40,000 for his efforts and was in contact with an unidentified handler based in Dubai. Along with Singh, three others—Vikramjit Singh, Balwinder Singh, and Taranpreet Singh—are under investigation for their roles in this espionage network. Following this incident, Pathankot Police are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects. This arrest comes on the heels of previous busts of ISI-backed modules in Punjab that utilized high-tech surveillance equipment to monitor military locations. Authorities are urging increased vigilance along border areas to counter ongoing foreign intelligence gathering.
