Fans purchased a total of 4,687 skates, leading to their instant popularity on social media. The skate-shaped mugs, holding 28 ounces of liquid, were sold for $19 each, with a price of $12 when filled with a beverage. Following the sellout, listings on eBay have seen prices soar between $150 and $200. Hoffman expressed surprise at the overwhelming demand, stating that if they had anticipated such popularity, they would have ordered more. The Hurricanes are considering future iterations of the beer skates, although they will not return for the 2026 playoffs. The team is currently focused on their ongoing series against the Flyers, with Game 2 scheduled in Raleigh, North Carolina.
