A massive fire broke out late Friday night at the Shastri Park furniture market in northeast Delhi, causing extensive damage to multiple shops and resulting in losses estimated in lakhs of rupees. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received the first call about the fire at around 11:57 pm, which quickly spread due to the presence of highly combustible materials. Local residents grew frustrated with the DFS's response time, leading to incidents where stones were allegedly thrown at fire tenders by some individuals at the scene. In response to the escalating tensions, police assistance was requested around 12:50 am. A total of 25 fire tenders were dispatched to the location, and firefighters worked throughout the night to control the blaze. Fortunately, despite the significant property damage, no casualties were reported. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, and cooling operations continued on Saturday as firefighters remained on-site to ensure the area was safe.
