Imtiaz Ali, known for his collaborations with Ranbir Kapoor in films like Rockstar and Tamasha, has voiced his enthusiastic support for Kapoor's role as Lord Rama in the upcoming two-part film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. In an interview, Ali emphasized Kapoor's versatility, stating, "Ranbir can do anything as an actor" and expressed confidence that Kapoor's portrayal will bring depth and humanity to the character of Lord Rama. Ali believes that playing such a significant role will enrich Kapoor's acting experience. The film, which has been in development for six to seven years, boasts an extraordinary budget of ₹4,000 crore (approximately $500 million), making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced. Producer Namit Malhotra noted the ambitious scale of the project, which has garnered skepticism in the past. Ramayana Part 1 is set to premiere during Diwali 2026 and features a notable cast, including Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Ravie Dubey.
