Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that women registered under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will start receiving monthly financial assistance from July 1. Women from the general category will receive ₹1,000, while those from Scheduled Castes will receive ₹1,500. This initiative aims to support 52 lakh women beneficiaries across the state, with 36 lakh already issued cards under the scheme. Mann emphasized that the scheme will continue, having been initiated with a proper budget. Eligible women must be at least 18 years old, registered voters in Punjab, and hold valid Aadhaar cards showing Punjab residency. Applications can be made at local Anganwadi Centres, Sewa Kendras, and municipal offices. However, certain groups are excluded from eligibility, including tax payers, regular or retired government employees, and the spouses of serving ministers or elected officials. This financial assistance was a significant poll promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party during the 2022 Punjab assembly elections.
