The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party has reacted strongly against its ally, the Congress party, for forming an alliance with Tamil actor Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which emerged as a significant player in the Tamil Nadu elections. The TVK, launched two years ago, won 108 out of 234 seats, falling short of a majority by just 10 seats. The Congress's decision to support TVK has left DMK leaders feeling betrayed, as they believe their loyalty to Congress over the years has been disregarded. DMK Treasurer TR Baalu criticized Congress for switching alliances, equating their actions to those of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been accused of seeking power through backdoor channels. He highlighted that Congress had previously won five seats in the Tamil Nadu elections as part of the DMK alliance, and now their switch effectively jeopardizes those seats. Baalu stated that while defeat and betrayal are familiar to the DMK, they believe that time will reveal the true consequences of these political maneuvers.
