Jemimah Rodrigues, captain of the Indian women's cricket team, is optimistic about Nandani Sharma's debut in the women's T20 World Cup 2026, which starts on June 12. Nandani earned her spot following an impressive performance in the Women's Premier League (WPL), where she took 17 wickets, the joint-most in the tournament. Injuries to Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee Gautam led to her selection. Rodrigues highlighted Nandani's consistent performance throughout the WPL, particularly her hat-trick and five-wicket haul in her second match. India head coach Amol Muzumdar also welcomed Nandani, noting the team's readiness for the challenges ahead, including a T20 series against England starting May 28. The team will conduct a short training camp in Bengaluru from May 8 before heading to the UK. The absence of Kaur, who will be sidelined for four to five months due to injury, has prompted strategic changes in the squad, including the addition of Bharti Fulmali and Radha Yadav. Rodrigues emphasized the team's hunger to build on their success after winning their first Women's ODI World Cup last year.
