On Tuesday, the Quad alliance—comprising India, Australia, Japan, and the United States—unveiled the Quad Critical Minerals Initiative Framework, aiming to mobilize up to $20 billion in support of critical minerals supply chains. This initiative, announced in New Delhi, focuses on securing supply chains for minerals essential for advanced technologies and industrial manufacturing, amid increasing global competition. The Quad partners will identify projects linked to Quad countries and propose support through export credit agencies and private capital mobilization. Additionally, the framework includes cooperation on regulatory processes and recovery of critical minerals from e-waste. In a separate agreement, India and the US signed a pact to enhance collaboration in mining and processing critical minerals, which aims to strengthen resilient supply chains. The Quad also issued a statement addressing Indo-Pacific energy security, highlighting the importance of uninterrupted trade through critical maritime routes and announcing plans for a Quad Fuel Security Forum to coordinate energy resilience efforts.
