The film features Lupita Nyong’o in a challenging dual role as Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra. Notably, Travis Scott is also part of the cast, with Nolan explaining that his inclusion reflects the oral poetry tradition, akin to rap. Rather than casting actors as the gods, Nolan chooses to represent them through nature and the characters' beliefs, enhancing the immersive experience for the audience. The film, based on Homer's epic, follows Odysseus on his perilous ten-year journey home after the fall of Troy, encountering various challenges along the way. With a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and others, The Odyssey was filmed using cutting-edge IMAX 70 mm technology, marking a significant milestone in filmmaking. With a budget of approximately $250 million, it stands as Nolan's most expensive project to date. Universal Pictures is set to release The Odyssey in theaters on July 17, 2026.
