The CBI's ongoing investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak has revealed significant involvement from arrested subject experts, particularly Manisha Gurunath Mandhare. Mandhare, a Biology expert from Pune's Modern College of Arts, not only contributed to setting the question paper but also translated questions from the Botany and Zoology sections, granting her extensive access to the exam content. Alongside her, retired Chemistry lecturer P V Kulkarni was arrested for translating the paper into Marathi. Reports indicate that Mandhare conspired with co-accused, including Manisha Waghmare, to conduct coaching classes for prospective NEET candidates at her residence, where she allegedly provided exam questions in exchange for financial benefits. The NEET-UG exam, which took place on May 3 for 22 lakh candidates, was subsequently cancelled amid these allegations. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had previously identified discrepancies in the exam content, with some questions matching a 'guess paper' that circulated widely. This incident underscores the vulnerabilities in the examination process, particularly concerning the translation and access to question papers.
