Mohammed Riyaz Mohammed Fazil Qazi, the director of the Universal Multipurpose Society, a non-governmental organization in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, was arrested by local police following serious allegations from four female employees. The women accused Qazi of psychological harassment, inappropriate touching, and coercing them to adhere to specific religious practices, including offering namaz (prayers) and observing roza (fasts). They reported feeling pressured to use Islamic greetings and to abandon their own religious customs. One complainant, aged 23, alleged that Qazi engaged in obscene acts in his office and would disable CCTV cameras before such incidents. The police have recorded complaints under sexual harassment, stalking, and outraging a woman's modesty. An investigation into the NGO's operations and funding has been launched, and Qazi is currently in police custody until April 23.
